Butler's Pantry Design
A butler’s pantry is mostly seen through a doorway, which is exactly why it can carry a paper you could never afford across a whole room. One pantry, designed and specified to the last detail — from $750.

It is not the cabinetry. Most pantries are the same box; the difference is six or seven decisions made in the right order.
Everything else is chosen to sit against it, not the other way round. A pantry needs so little paper that a hand-painted or specialist wallpaper — the kind that would be unthinkable across a drawing room — becomes possible here.
Painting a papered pantry white is the most common mistake. The cabinetry dissolves into the ground and the room loses its bones. A colour taken out of the paper, in satin or gloss, gives the room structure and bounces what light there is.
Interior shelf lighting is what makes a pantry glow at night, and it is the detail people notice without being able to name. A single ceiling fixture lights a cupboard. Lit shelves make a room.
Practical — things do not fall. But they are also the detail that reads as built rather than bought, and they cost very little per shelf.
White porcelain, clear crystal, unlacquered brass. Repeat three materials rather than displaying six. Collections read as expensive when they repeat and as storage when they vary.

About two weeks. Order it yourself, or hand the specification to your cabinetmaker.

Yes. Photographs and dimensions are enough to begin. Commissions are taken worldwide.
It depends on the paper and the light. A pantry usually has no window, so a saturated cabinet colour in satin or gloss will reflect the shelf lighting and make the room feel deeper rather than smaller. White cabinetry in a papered pantry tends to disappear into the ground.
It is the decision that makes the room. Because the space is small and lined with shelving, you need very little paper — which is what makes an expensive one possible.
About two weeks from the first conversation. Sourcing antique and vintage pieces takes longer than filtering a catalogue.
